What are the Rheem Apprentice Plumber Grants?

The Rheem Apprentice Plumber Grants program was created to support apprentices as they work their way through their qualifications. Each grant is valued at $3,000 and is designed to ease two of the biggest pressures a young apprentice faces: the cost of study and the cost of building a reliable tool kit. In recent rounds that has typically included around $2,000 towards TAFE or Registered Training Organisation (RTO) fees, plus a $1,000 tool voucher to help kit out a first van.

To be eligible, applicants generally need to be enrolled with a TAFE or RTO, or be undertaking a school-based apprenticeship, and be employed by a licensed plumber. The program has grown considerably over the years. An early milestone saw Rheem award $30,000 across 10 deserving recipients in a single year, and the program has since expanded to back far more apprentices annually, with additional State Excellence Awards now recognising standout applicants from each state group.
